CISCA Construction Excellence Award – March 2017
International Monetary Fund HQ1
Gold Award – East Region
The International Monetary Fund HQ1 building in Washington DC is a 13-story occupied renovation. The renovation includes an atrium, dining area and office areas encompassing 1.9 million square feet. Large 5’x5’ aluminum ceiling panel modules were used in the high-profile areas. Installation and design for these panels was further complicated by the inclusion of multiple MEP design elements. The primary structure of the project is a ‘waffle’ slab design. These waffles are concealed by installing some 260,400 square feet of customized 50”x50” aluminum panels to serve this purpose. The existing radial waffle corners opening size variation posed design hurdles.
The project was awarded CISCA Construction Excellence Gold Award for the East Region.
